This school can become a work of art is a long-term project, aimed at introducing students to contemporary art and getting them to develop a long-term collaborative project in their school.
ISELP accompanied the students of a 5th year class from the Institute Saint-Louis in an introduction to contemporary art and public art, which led to the drawing up of a tender for a work of art in their school. The artist Jean-François Octave was selected to work together with the students. He is a regular in the world of public art and is the author of the work in the Heysel metro station, as well as of the monument My gay mythology (A monument to everyone), in the Plattesteen district. He proposed a multi-phase project mixing visuals and texts, based on the image that the students have of their school. Temporary installations were composed from student portraits and words and quotes collected around the school. Subsequently, a permanent mural installation was placed in the playground, based on the creation of imaginary flags.
